How to plough a mountain pass
  • Keyboard — ↑ drives, ↓ brakes and then reverses, ← → steer. Space is the horn, for morale. V swaps between the chase camera and the cab.
  • By hand — hold on the road and drag: up to drive, down to brake, left and right to steer.
  • The blade is angled, so it throws the snow to the right. Deep drifts slow you down, a lot, and hitting one fast is felt.
  • The poles mark the edge of the road. Their reflectors light up in your lamps, and on the top, in the whiteout, they are all you will see. Knock one down and it counts against you; leave the road altogether and the ditch keeps you for a while.
  • The convoy — four cars follow in your tracks, in the mirror at the top. They cannot plough, and in this they will not do much more than 40 km/h; the bus less. Go too fast and they fall behind, the wind fills your tracks back in, and a car that gets stuck, or loses sight of you, waits for the next plough.
  • Scoring — 250 for every car that arrives, up to 400 for time, less for poles and ditches.
  • Today’s pass is the same for everyone today, and the first run you set off on is the one that counts, finished or not. Every pass has a number, and its link goes straight back to it.
  • F or the corner button takes the road full screen, and F or Esc brings it back.
